Joy 94.9 founder and Member Number One John Oliver has resigned his membership of both the radio station and reform group, calling for independent external assessors be appointed in a binding arbitration process between Board, Management and Complainants.

John Oliver has resigned from the station he founded, and also from Save Joy, the group trying to bring about reform at the station to clean up the alleged longstanding culture of bullying and intimidation.

Oiver’s decision comes after a gruelling three and a half hour meeting with the Joy CEO and the President Thursday, after which Oliver resigned, citing a need to avoid stress due to his age and health. Oliver is 71 and has been ailing for some considerable time.

He called for the two sides to air their grievances, in a process managed by two agreed independent assessors, with both the Board and Save Joy committed to accept their decisions.

In resigning he reiterated his love for the station he founded.

Letter to Save Joy Group and Joy 94.9 FM Board of Management. 5/5/2018

Over the past 3 months I have supported the Save Joy Group I originally was told that two of the people I supported will be on the list I made it very clear that they had to be on the list of Save Joy.

I am still waiting for their names to appear on the list. So no names no support I am very disappointed that the names have not appeared on the list. So as of this date 5/5/2018 I no longer support Save Joy.

I was asked to come to a meeting last Thursday 3rd May with John Jennings and CEO and the President it went for three and a half hours the board wants to meet with the volunteers and staff that have a grievances with Joy management they would like to sort it out.  I see this is a way of sorting it.

The Joy Board needs to take a look at the rules of association and have two independent people to manage this, so they can report back to the board with their findings and the board must act on the findings in accordance with Rules of Association and, Save Joy will have to accept the findings as well . Rules are made and not to be broken.

So I have decide to stand down from Joy 94.9 FM as member 1, I will not be involved in Save Joy Group good luck to all. I love Joy 94.9Fm and support all Volunteers and staff and members, sponsors’.

I am 71 years old with medical problems and I do not need this stress anymore this can be sorted out by communication with each other.

Kind Regards to All

John Oliver

The Two Names

The stirrrer is aware of the identities of the two persons referred to who have not signed the call for a Special General Meeting, but has been asked not to reveal them for their protection.

Joy Board Request

A member of the Joy Board requested a private off the record conversation with the stirrer to discuss claimed inaccuracies in previous reports. They declined, however, to go on the record, and refused the stirrer’s offer to write their own post for publication here.
